Thermal animal-detection demonstration

Dual-sensor search

Visible context. Thermal contrast.

Side-by-side visible and thermal imagery can help distinguish possible animals from the surrounding landscape and provide useful context for directing a ground search.

Demonstration footage only. It does not show an actual missing-animal search.

Client experience

“RangeVector found Roxy, our two-year-old Quarter Horse, after she wandered into a different pasture. We are forever grateful.”

Important limitations

Aerial search can help. It cannot promise an outcome.

Thermal imaging works best when there is a meaningful temperature difference between the animal and its surroundings. Heavy tree cover, warm ground, buildings, terrain, distance, and animal behavior can obscure detection.

RangeVector Aerial does not guarantee that your animal will be detected, located, or found. The client or an appropriate ground team remains responsible for approaching, catching, and securing the animal.

Every flight also depends on weather, airspace, terrain, access, property permission, and safe operating conditions.

Search intake

Missing animal information.

For urgent searches, call first—then complete this form while we discuss conditions and feasibility.

Where was the animal last seen?

Enter a street address, a city, or GPS coordinates. Trails and open land often have no street address; a city or coordinates is enough.

A clear, recent photo helps us and your ground team confirm a sighting.

Animal Search Agreement

Please read the agreement below. It covers no guarantee of finding your animal, your responsibility for catching and securing your animal, fees, and how footage is used.

RangeVector Aerial Animal Search Agreement

This Agreement is between RangeVector Aerial, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company (“RangeVector”), and the person signing below (“Owner”).

1. Services

RangeVector will provide aerial search support for Owner's missing animal using visible-light and thermal imaging from a drone, search-area planning, and relaying possible sightings to Owner or Owner's ground team. RangeVector provides aerial observation and information only. It does not provide animal capture, handling, veterinary care, or ground search crews.

2. No guarantee of results

RangeVector does not guarantee that the animal will be detected, located, identified, or recovered. Fees are owed for time flown whether or not the animal is found. Detection depends on temperature contrast, tree cover, terrain, buildings, distance, weather, and animal behavior. A drone's sound or presence may startle an animal and cause it to move or flee; RangeVector will use reasonable altitude and distance to limit this but cannot prevent it. Reported locations are approximate.

3. Owner's responsibilities

Owner, or a ground team Owner arranges, is solely responsible for approaching, capturing, handling, and recovering the animal, and for everyone's safety while doing so. Owner confirms that Owner has, or will obtain before launch, permission from each property owner for RangeVector to take off, land, and operate from the locations Owner provides. Owner will provide accurate information and tell RangeVector right away if the animal is found.

4. Flight operations

All flights follow FAA Part 107 and other applicable laws. The remote pilot may delay, limit, relocate, or end any flight for weather, airspace restrictions, battery limits, loss of permission, or any other safety reason. Response times are estimates.

5. Fees and payment

$250 per hour for the first 2 hours ($500 minimum) once the aircraft first launches; $125 per hour after that, billed in 30-minute increments. No charge if the Search is canceled before launch, including if the animal is found while RangeVector is on the way. Travel is included within 30 miles of ZIP code 80027; beyond that, $1.00 per mile round trip. Invoices are due within 15 days, payable by card through the secure Square link on the invoice, by Venmo, or by check to RangeVector Aerial, LLC; payment details appear on the invoice. Unpaid balances after 30 days accrue 1.5% per month plus reasonable collection costs. RangeVector may require the 2-hour minimum or a card on file before launch.

6. Footage

6.1 RangeVector will deliver the footage, still images, and available flight-track files to Owner by secure, password-protected download within 3 business days. Owner may use them for any personal purpose.

6.2 RangeVector may keep a copy on file to train pilots, improve its search methods, and teach search-and-rescue techniques.

6.3 RangeVector may use short clips or stills in its website, social media, and marketing only in a form that does not identify Owner or the property: no names, faces, house numbers, license plates, or exact addresses, and the location described no more specifically than the town or general area. RangeVector may name the type of animal and the outcome.

6.4 Owner may opt out of 6.2 and 6.3 by checking the opt-out box below or by emailing operations@rangevectoraerial.com at any time. RangeVector will then start no new use and delete its retained copy within 30 days, except footage already published.

7. Release, liability, and indemnity

To the fullest extent Colorado law allows, Owner releases RangeVector, its members, pilots, and team members from claims arising from the Search, including injury to or loss of the animal, the animal's reaction to the aircraft, and any recovery attempt, except claims of gross negligence or willful misconduct. RangeVector's total liability will not exceed the fees paid for the Search, and neither party is liable for indirect or consequential damages; this limit does not apply to bodily injury or property damage caused by the aircraft, which is covered by RangeVector's commercial drone liability insurance. Owner will hold RangeVector harmless from third-party claims arising from inaccurate statements about property permission or from the conduct of Owner or Owner's ground team.

8. General terms

Colorado law governs; disputes will be brought in Boulder County, Colorado. This is the complete agreement for the Search; changes must be in writing (email is sufficient). If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Typing your full name and checking “I agree” is your legal electronic signature under the Colorado Uniform Electronic Transactions Act. A signed copy will be emailed to you.
